SCHOOL PROGRAMS
*All School Programs and Residencies are based on the NC Standard Course of Study*
These tried and true residencies come straight from teacher curriculum (I was a certified Spanish teacher). But don’t tell your students – they’ll never guess! All are stretch-able
and shrink-able to fit your school’s teaching, time, and budgetary needs.

Interpreting Sojourner grades 2-4
Students listen to the amazing story of Sojourner Truth, one of history's greats; they finish the lesson by brainstorming adjectives to write and perform poems about her.

No Cause, No Effect grades 3-8
Students experience a folktale, discuss cause and effect, and physically reconstruct the story by combining causes with effects.

Express Yourself: Exploring Poetry grades 4-12
We explore all kinds of poems while learning how to portray emotion through voice and gesture. At the end of it all, we write our own poems and share in a "poetry café".

Pattern-Patting, Fraction-Finding grades 4-8
Children learn and create traditional stone-passing and clapping patterns in small groups. Then, they figure out the fractions of movements that make up each pattern. You gotta try this one!

From My Point of View - bilingual Spanish/ English grades 5-12
This writing and social studies unit empowers kids to use their imagination to persuade others to take on their characters' point of view. Writing and drama skills are key to this integrative lesson.

I am extremely impressed with the energy Kali brings to her work...her programs are among the favorites of all the performances we have had here. She evokes emotions of joy, sadness, even anger, all while educating the audience about all kinds of cultures and people.
