Kali Ferguson, Cultural Educator is a storyteller, poet, teaching artist, and child of the world (among other things). She began her creative journey at age four, and she has since written and performed at local and national venues, always using her creative intuition and warmth to guide her. Kali aims to bring purpose and meaning to individuals and communities through the creative arts.
Kali engages audiences of all ages and backgrounds as she tells folk and original stories; interprets original and well-loved poetry; and sometimes even blesses us with song and dance. Her work as a teaching artist has inspired many children and teachers to trust their own inner knowing and connect with their school curriculum on a deeper level. Kali also writes and sings songs that defy definition and works in organizations to bring out the "co-creator" in everyone.
Kali sought her identity as an artist for many years, walking the roads of high school Spanish teacher, event planner, economic justice organizer, and grad school student. During that time, she unwittingly rounded out her ability to process and express life. Now she uses her background in Spanish Education to tell bilingual stories; her work as event planner and organizer to bring people together; and her graduate school research skills to inform her thorough teaching artist residencies. Kali recognizes that all her experiences are part of her unique story and hopes to help others celebrate their own personal tales and realize their dreams. |
